As I alluded to yesterday, we were about to set another record.
On Wednesday we blew away our previous best day by 45%!
On Friday we be blew away Wednesday’s record by 34%!!!
In the last four days we have done more business than we did for the entire months of November and December combined last year.
We had several sellers let us know that they sold more than 100 cards just yesterday.
I looked at the number of cards requested to be shipped, and we had 10 times more cards requested to be shipped yesterday than our previous best day!!!!
I am speechless.
On a personal note: I only worked half days on Wednesday and Friday. I am really proud of the team that is taking care of things when I am not there.

When we announced the Black Friday special of $3 shipping on Wednesday we immediately started setting records. Account holders started buying up cards and getting them ready to be shipped on Friday.
On Wednesday we did 45% more business than our record setting day from two weeks ago.
Today, we are just about to beat Wednesday’s record and it is not even 4:00PM. Let’s see how much we can beat our record by.

We are making the mail man work for his money.
Here are the packages that arrived today.

It is probably closer to 15,000 cards than 10,000 cards. Looks like people really like our new pricing.
Here is a photo from a few weeks ago. This was what happened when our last promotion ended.

We are starting to get more an more complaints about people sending extremely low offers.
To try and combat this issue we are thinking of enforcing a new policy.
Offers must be at least 50% of the total asking price.
This policy would have two effects. It would make sure that people can’t give unreasonably low offers, and it would encourage sellers to ask fair asking prices.
What do you think of this policy?
========== 11/27/2008 UPDATE ============
Wow, I am amazed with the response! I rolled out the simplest stage of the feature. We now restrict the offers to at least 50% of the asking price. It is a lot more work to make it configurable, but I am open to doing it if it is the right thing. For now, if you are willing to take offers that are less than 50% of you asking prices, maybe you can consider lowering your asking price.

It was two weeks ago that we adjusted our fee structure. We got some very helpful feedback from several sellers, and we were able to tweak the fee structure to make the fees work for as many buyers and sellers as possible.
Today I am happy to let you know that we set a record for total sales in one day. The growth of the site over the last year has literally blown me away.
By 9:00 PM today, we exceeded the total sales from the entire month of October last year.
There is still a chance that by the end of the day we will surpass the sales from the entire month of November last year. That is mind boggling.
I need to thank all of my amazing employees. They have been working so hard the last few weeks to process the record number of cards that have been sent to us. Also, I need to thank all of the sellers and other members of the site that have been spreading the word about CheckOutMyCards.com. This kind of growth is only made possible by each of your efforts.
I want to thank each and every one of you for helping this dream come true! It is really working. The concept is really working.

The Holiday season is right around the corner and we are thinking of taking orders for COMC
t-shirts, polo shirts, and hooded sweatshirts.
The t-shirts and sweatshirts will look like this.

The t-shirts would be $19.95, the sweatshirts would be $39.95, and the polo shirts would be $59.95. Please let us know what you would be interested in purchasing.

We simplified and finalized the new fee structure.
It includes several tweaks that were suggested by some current sellers.
- No storage fees for buyers
- No storage fees for cards with asking prices of $0.25 or less
- First 90 days for of storage are free for the original owner
We announced the finalized fees at the local WSSCA Winter Convention, and we chatted over the phone with a few of the most consistent sellers. The reception is overwhelmingly positive. With the new tweaks (especially the free storage for $0.25 cards and the option to donate cards to charity), people are now ready to start sending us nearly all of their excess cards. This is the affect we were going for.
With the $0.10 initial processing fee, people can send us twice as many cards as they could with our old $0.20 processing fee. In turn, they will start earning store credit twice as fast, and they will then be able to send their next batch of twice as many cards even sooner. This should help us continue to exponentially grow the selection of cards available.
Our current capacity is nearly 5,000 cards per day. We hope to max that out by the end of the year and need to start hiring and expanding our capacity in January.
I would love to create a bunch of new jobs for sports card fanatics. Help us make that a reality by continuing to spread the word about CheckOutMyCards.com!
