A couple weeks ago we got back from the National and posted a few teaser stats on our facebook page. Here is a sneak peak at the packages that we shipped back from Chicago.

People dropped off more than 150,000 cards. Once they arrived at our warehouse we had less than 4 weeks to process them. We normally process 50,000 cards per week, so adding 3+ weeks of work to our existing backlog has provided a great challenge for our team.

Fortunately we are actively hiring. We had two new people start in the last couple weeks, we have another one starting on Monday, and we have a couple more that we plan to extend offers to once background checks are cleared. Our goal has always been to offer a cost effective way for people to sell cards for $1 or more. We have definitely accomplished that, but some sellers have even found some success with cards priced at even less than $1. However we don’t expect sellers to use our service to list mass quantities of nickel and dime commons from the 80′s and 90′s.

That said, many of our buyers would would like to buy some of those cards to complete sets or because a card may feature a neighbor or cousin. So, we have decided to do a little experiment, and we are posting a number of base complete sets from the past few decades in a new account named Commons.

This account will not try to compete with other seller’s prices. Generally commons will be listed for about $0.50 – $0.75. We are not trying to flood the market with more product. We realize that it is not cost effective for our sellers to list these commons, so we will list a few of them for those buyers that are looking for them. Hopefully they will also end up also buying some more expensive cards from our other sellers while they are at it.

So… the main point I want you to be aware of is that the new Commons account is not intended to be an example of the kinds of cards that you should send us. It is simply a service we are providing to the collectors that are hunting for certain less expensive cards.

Last week we processed 20,182 cards to break our previous record of 20,041 cards.
This week technically isn’t over yet, but we have already processed 23,606 cards this week.

That is an amazing pace. I took a glace at the top sellers and noticed that very soon my LowPriceCards account won’t bee the only account with a six digit book value. The growth we have seen over the past year is pretty stunning.

I don’t expect it to last too long at $100.

Here is a $150 Reggie Bush numberd 6 of 9. He is only asking $40.

In the first few hours his cards have been up for sale more than $1,000 book value worth of cards have sold.

At 5:22 PM garymccoy accidentally set the asking price for the following $30 card to $1.50 instead of $15.00.

At 6:00 PM our search results were updated so that people could start finding this card.

At 6:08 PM Tigers1984WS noticed that the card was marked 95% off book value, figured it must be a mistake, and purchased the card. He very quickly emailed us to let us know about the mistake so that the card could be transferred back to the original owner and set to the correct asking price.

As a special thanks to Tigers1984WS, we added an extra $1.50 store credit to his account. We are so thankful for having people with such integrity participate in this community.

On a side note… It is amazing how fast things can fly off the site if they have a low enough asking price. 8 minutes! Wow!

We have been cranking through cards at an amazing rate. If you get your cards to us by next week, we will likely get them on the site before the National. I just finished pushing 18 shipments of cards into different sellers’ accounts today. As the sellers set asking prices over the next few days, there should be a lot of fresh inventory on the site.
