Get your cards on the site before Black Friday! I believe the word soundsportscards used to describe the weekend after Thanksgiving last year was “sick”. He had 500 cards go in the site just before Thanksgiving and 400 of them sold that weekend.

In order to get your cards on the site before Thanksgiving, you will need to use our Express Processing service, and the cards will need to arrive at our warehouse by Wednesday, November 18th.

The full details of the Black Friday special won’t be revealed until Thanksgiving day, but you will want to be ready to buy, sell, and ship a lot of cards that weekend.

At last… I found the needle in the haystack. Wow, what a pain. We got our new email server all configured about 10 days ago, and it seemed to be working great for just about everyone. However, no one from with an aol.com email address was getting our emails.

After many many hours of searching I finally traced down what the issue was. This forum post from tek-tips.com was very helpful.

Quick Summary
AOL required reverse DNS to be configured for the IP address that is sending the email messages.

Full Details
This had all been configured correctly with our old email server, but when we migrated the the new email server, I had to change some of our firewall settings. The email server happens to accept request from a couple different IP addresses. So it was successfully receiving emails that were routed through mx1.checkoutmycards.com, but when it was sending emails it happen to go out through a different IP address.

I realized this by doing a “What is my IP” search and seeing that it didn’t match mx1.checkoutmycards.com. All I had to do was change one firewall setting so that outgoing emails got sent through the same IP address as the one that had reverse DNS configured.

I even created an @aol.com email address just to test the scenario and make sure things worked. Hopefully all of you at aol.com can now receive our emails.

It has been a long time coming, but after 2+ years of offering our consignment service, we finally have a seller that has more cards for sale than my original LowPriceCards account.

eaglescards is a shop owner from the Seattle area. After sitting down with him and comparing his eBay numbers for the past year to his CheckOutMyCards numbers, it became obvious that he was better off sending his cards to us to sell.

Even though our 20% cash-out fee sounds high to some, it is actually amazingly low. Once you factor in all the other expenses required to sell on eBay, it turns out that most sellers are paying 30-40% of their final sales to eBay, PayPal, shipping fees, listing fees, labor costs, supplies, and the list goes on.

eBay definitely has its place. There are some cards that are hot and should be sold at auction. But it turns out that the majority of a persons collection will sell better with a Buy it Now or Best Offer pricing. That is exactly what we offer.

Since we are doing everything in large volume, we are able to cut costs way lower than everyone else. For example, our shipping rates are $3 for the first card and $0.25 for each additional card. Our average order is about 10 cards. That is $5.25 for shipping of 10 cards or just over $0.50/card.

eaglescards thought his buyers were getting a better deal on shipping from him on eBay because he was offering $2.50 flat shipping on any number of won auctions. The thing is, the majority of the time people only buy 1 card. It turned out they were paying about $2 shipping per card. That is 4 times what we charge on average per card. This is extra money that buyers could be spending on actual cards instead of paying for shipping overhead. This is the advantage of having one warehouse with nearly 1 million cards to choose from.

Needless to say, eaglescards is set to start soaring. He is now actively buying collections and sending them our way.
